Highlights and Accomplishments
Experiences and Artistic Highlights.
I have been very fortunate in combining my teaching and artistic endeavors over the years. I've traveled great distances to fish steelhead on the Northwest Coast of British Columbia, and taught in Terrace, British Columbia for six years. While living in Terrace I was a guide on Great Bear Lake in the North West Territories (fly-fishing).

Most of my teaching positions have taken me to rural or Northern environments, which is where I prefer to live. This has enabled me to be close to great fishing and have the solitude to paint with minimal distraction, (mainly fishing!)

Artistic Highlights and Experiences
Here is a partial list of some of what I would consider pretty neat things that I've felt fortunate and honored to e part of.

-Was a guest on the popular fishing show "Real Fishing", hosted by Bob Izumi. The show combined my Art in addition to a fishing trip for smallmouth bass on a fly.

The show was very well received, based on how many

times it was aired, and all the positive comments.

Recipient of the Greg Clark Award
A National award given usually to writers, who have contributed significantly to the Arts, and or Outdoor writing. Presented by the Izaak Walton Fly Fishing Club.
Artistic Highlights/Experience
-Appeared on a CBC - Televised Documentary, "Lord of the Flies", about Fly Fishing. It was an excellent program because it covered many of the elements of the sport, and I was really flattered to be part of the program.

-In 1999 I was asked to become the principle, illustrator/painter, for the number one selling Fly Fishing magazine in North America, "Fly Fisherman".

My work appears in the "Seasonal Angler" section, the last two pages in each issue since 99'. This has been an incredibly enjoyable experience for me, as I get to read and interpret into illustrations, some of the finest Outdoor writing in the world.

Over twenty-fiveyears ago I admired the previous artist, Bob Seaman who did some magnificent work in "Seasonal Angler". I said to myself, how cool it would be to get that kind of opportunity. I am so happy to have this opportunity, and always get excited when a "batch" of new manuscripts arrive, so that I can read, enjoy, interpret and create!

-Another more recent highlight regarding publications, are the books I've been commississioned to illustrate/paint over the past 4 years. Recently, John Randolph, publisher and senior editor of Fly Fisherman magazine, who is an excellent writer to boot, asked me to illustrate his one and only book, "On Becoming a Fly Fisher." (see Menu-Books) It's a wonderful book and I can only hope my pen and inks add to it's most excellent words of wisdom/

-Regarding books, another two writers who have commissioned my paintings and pen and inks are the talented Rick and Jerry Kustich. (see menu-books). Over the past few years they have written a Bible for Great Lakes Steelheaders, Fly Fishing Great Lakes Steelhead. In addition Jerry's little gem of a book, On the River's Edge. Both books are a must for those of us that seek knowledge and a boost for the human spirit. Both these guys are the best, and I look forward to working with them again.

Artistic Highlights and Achievements

I know there are many more experiences and highlights that I could mention, but I really don't want to bore you. I suppose the biggest highlight of all, is the fact that I'm so lucky, fortunate and blessed with that good "karma" that enables me to live a life that encompasses the most important things to me, and that there are so many individuals out there who appreciate what I try so hard to do. (Included, a list of some exhibits, and the like.)

Magazines

I've illustrated and had more paintings in magazines and journals, than I can honestly count for over the past twenty-five years. For your interest, the first thing I ever published was for the American Museum of Fly Fishing when Paul Schullery was Director, Editor. Shortly after, Fly Fisherman magazine, followed by Ontario Out of Doors here in Canada. I currently work with just a few, but I'm happy with that number, as it allows me time to "hose-off" and go fishing.
